Sébastien Buemi (34) finished fifth in the Formula E race in Cape Town. The Vaud native in the Envision Racing team car had a turbulent start. He started from seventh on the grid and was rammed into the rear by German Porsche driver Pascal Wehrlein on the first lap. He now falls back to 15th place. After that, the 34-year-old shows a strong catch-up race and fights his way forward.
The other Swiss are also unlucky: Edoardo Mortara (Maserati) from Geneva is eliminated in the first round. Nico Müller (ABT) from Bern is not taking part in the race at the age of 31. His team decided not to start due to concerns about the safety of the rear suspension.
The victory goes to the Portuguese Antonio Félix da Costa (Porsche). Wehrlein remains in the championship lead with 80 points. Buemi is the best Swiss with 41 points in sixth place. (SDA/mbi)
