Alpstaeg tenses his muscles again

There is certainly no shortage of side scenes in the dispute about FC Luzern. But somehow the contestants always manage to add a new spot. The latest: the Wirtshaus zum Schützenhaus next to the Swissporarena.

It is the place where the explosive General Meeting of FCL Holding AG took place on December 21. It is where the club has its own offices and where the FCL staff go every day. And last but not least, it is the place where hundreds of fans gather before and after the matches.

“Only for cost reasons”

But now Bernhard Alpstaeg wanted to show his muscles again. As the owner of the Schützenhaus, he decided without hesitation that he wanted to rebuild it. In the course of this, he terminated the cooperation with the FCL and, together with Markus Krienbühl and Richard Furrer, simultaneously removed two FCL management members from the corresponding entry in the commercial register.

Alpstaeg does all this purely for cost reasons, says its spokesperson Sacha Wigdorovits. The previous manager of the restaurant – the FCL – had become too expensive. “From April 1, we will hand over the administration to a new person”. The pub will not be taken into new hands, but only the administration – such as the office, cleaning and so on, assures the communications consultant.

“This decision has nothing to do with the conflict between the shareholders of FCL Holding AG,” explains Wigdorovits. It still smells strongly of it. Because from the club side it sounds significantly different. “FC Luzern attaches great importance to the statement that the decision was expressly and unilaterally taken by the board of directors of Stadion Luzern Gastro AG and is not in the interest of FC Luzern.”

Crisis meeting between Wolf and Alpstaeg

Despite everything, the club management hopes that “the economy of the Schützenhaus will remain an integral part of the FCL family in the future”. It remains to be seen how the fans will react to this. There will be an answer on Sunday when the FCL meets the standings at home. In any case, the club management around Stefan Wolf and Josef Bieri sets a good example and both can be seen in the Schützenhaus on Friday afternoon.

Before lunch, however, Wolf had much more serious things to do. He has met with the Lucerne City Council and the Swiss Football League, as well as Alpstaeg. “It has been agreed not to disclose the content of the conversation,” says a press release. Meanwhile, Alpstaeg’s signature is still missing from the licensing documents the club must submit next week.
