Biggest adventure of her career: Dominique Aegerter will compete in the 2023 Superbike World Championship and will make his debut this weekend at the season opener in Australia.

The bad news: the Grands Prix of the MotoGPMoto2 and Moto3 without a Swiss driver. The good news? There is another Töff World Championship where a Swiss rider now embarks on the greatest adventure of his career. Dominique excited (32) will make his World Superbike debut in Australia this weekend.

This is the first class of machines to be produced almost in series. who inside GP sports never really grown big can become a motorcycle hero here.

excited became prince with his world titles in 2021 and 2022 in the smaller World Supersport Championship. Can he rock the big Superbike World Championship now too?

Tom Lüthi: Superbike-Töff fits excited

The Swiss motorcycle legends believe in a strong debut year. Ex-Moto2 colleague Tom Lüthi (36) says: «Domi was already strong in winter testing and will only get stronger as the year progresses. I trust him on podiums. » Lüthi’s justification? “He has competitive factory equipment. And the characteristics of the engines with a lot of power and a relatively soft chassis suit him perfectly.”

excited With 240 hp, it has to tame more power and more than 300 km / h faster than ever before. But also Ex GP star Jacques Cornu (69) trusts the debutant: “Domi is like me before, he can also adapt very quickly to a new category. I am confident that he will be at the front and the podium is within reach. It’s just sad that he didn’t get another chance in Moto2.”

Krummenacher talks about possible victories

The last Swiss Superbike pilot to date was Randy Krummenacher (33). The Zurich native finished 16th at the 2017 World Cup. “Then the difference between my private racing team and the factory teams was bigger,” says Krummenacher. «Domi will experience races that he struggles with because the bike settings are very complex. The electronics are on MotoGP level, with GPS every turn is coordinated. But if everything fits, he can drive for victories.”

Sidecar legend Rolf Biland (71) remains more down-to-earth: “The step to the Superbike World Championship was the right one. He can, but the trees don’t grow to heaven. Domi just follow training after training and keep both feet on the ground. »

And what says excited yourself? They are my target top ten. That’s a lofty goal in this competitive field!”
