Grigor Dimitrov (32, ATP 11) is somewhat surprising in the semi-finals of the ATP 1000 tournament in Miami. The Bulgarian defeated top-seeded Wimbledon winner Carlos Alcaraz in the quarter-finals 6:2, 6:4, giving the Spaniard no chance in just 92 minutes of play.
After his defeat, Alcaraz was “very frustrated because he made me feel like I was 13 years old. You know, it was crazy,” says the Spaniard: “He played very well. I haven’t found any solutions. His game was perfect.”
Dimitrov will now face Alexander Zverev in the semi-finals, who previously defeated Hungary’s Fabian Marozsan 6:3, 7:5. Zverev has won the last seven matches against the 32-year-old; Dimitrov only won the first match between the two in 2014.
Australian Open winner Jannik Sinner (22, ATP 3) and Daniil Medvedev (28, ATP 4) will compete in the second semi-final on Friday. (AFP/che)
