Fan chaos threatens: going crazy at Easter? Lucerne residents want to defy the ban

On Easter Monday an explosive duel takes place between Lucerne and St. Gallen.

The affair between St. Gallen and Lucerne has often caused controversy in the recent past. There were nasty riots last May. Last summer, when Lucerne coach Mario Frick was beside himself after the final whistle and raged at the referee and some St. Gallen players.

The upcoming game on Monday (4:30 PM, live in the ticker) will probably be busy again for various reasons. With a win, Lucerne could overtake St. Gallen (in fifth place) and climb over the line for five laps before the competition is halved.

FCL fans are calling for people to arrive

What concerns the clubs besides the sporting aspect: possible riots. As emotions between the two fan camps escalated last May, the KKKPD imposed a strict measure: in matches between St.Gallen and Lucerne, the away sectors would remain closed and away fans would have to stay away from the matches.

It’s just stupid that some supporters don’t care much about the ban. In August, Lucerne fans ridiculed the closure of the guest sector by obtaining tickets for a neighboring sector and causing unrest there. Now a recurrence threatens. Although the St. Gallen police have made it clear to FCL supporters that a group of more than ten people is not allowed, calls are coming from Lucerne from fan circles to move “several hundred” fans to St. Gallen on Easter Monday.

Aspens faced enormous tasks

That’s why you’re not nervous in St. Gallen. But tense. The FCSG told Tagblatt: “The authorities’ decision to close the guest sector for the home match against Lucerne poses enormous challenges for FC St. Gallen. The club maintains close consultation with the safety authorities. To ensure that everything runs as smoothly as possible on match day, FC St. Gallen will take proportionate measures.

What exactly these measures are remains unclear. One thing is clear: FC St. Gallen is preparing for an uncomfortable Easter. Sporting success can probably improve your mood a little. But the Aspen have only won two games (out of 10) this year. The match against Lucerne will probably be a huge task in two respects. (par)
