Vanessa Kasper is the Swiss giant slalom champion. The 27-year-old from Graubünden from the Alpina St. Moriz ski club was by far the fastest in the second run early on Thursday morning. She takes advantage of the moment in a strange giant slalom. Firstly, poor conditions prevented the final from taking place on Wednesday. And because the weather forecast in Lenzerheide was also bad for Thursday, the second run started at an inopportune time: at 7.26 am the first driver opened the second run.
Eight years after her medal debut (3rd in the giant slalom in Haute-Nendaz in 2016), Vanessa Kasper won her first gold medal at national championships. With the best running time in the second round, in which she defeated the entire competition by 71 hundredths or more, Kasper relegates Stefanie Grob (Brülisau-Weissbad), who was in the lead at the break, and Selina Egloff (Lischana Scuol) to place 2 and 3.
With Camille Rast, the nominally best Giant driver in the field will not start on Thursday after finishing third in the first race on Wednesday. (SDA/dti)
