After all, the former NHL player has already proven in the past that he can deliver when it comes to sausage. He was one of the cornerstones of the German national team that won Olympic silver in 2018 and World Cup silver in 2023. And before anyone comes up with the idea of ​​labeling Kahun as an eternal runner-up: he became champion three times with Munich. He has also shown that he is capable of playing in the National League. Last season he played well in the quarter-finals against Biel and scored four times.

But now nothing works for Kahun anymore. The dynamism and charisma of qualifying are gone. He does not appear to be in full possession of his powers and appears tense. “We don’t do anything different, we don’t suddenly work less hard – but the relaxation is missing,” Kahun said recently. “The EVZ is not stupid, it wants to abolish our line and is doing a good job.”

Coach Jussi Tapola says: “I’m sure he is frustrated by the situation. Scorers want to score points and help the team. But for us it doesn’t matter who scores the points. Everyone has to play hard both offensively and defensively. In the play-offs it is often the case that there are several goal scorers. You just have to stay mentally strong and be aware that you can still become the hero.”
