Kevin Fiala (22) scores on the power play in the first third of the LA Kings’ win against Minnesota to make it 2-0. He previously provided the assist for the opening goal

Kevin Fiala and the Los Angeles Kings are still on track for the NHL playoffs. The St. Gallen player contributed with a goal and an assist in the 6-0 win against the Minnesota Wild. Fiala had a hand in the first two goals in the match and was therefore instrumental in steering the match in the desired direction for the home team.

The 27-year-old made the penultimate pass for the opening goal and scored the 2-0 himself in the power play. For Fiala, the scorer points this season stand at 61 and 62. In doing so, he consolidated his status as the second best Swiss scorer in the NHL, behind Roman Josi (70) and Nico Hischier (52).

The game goes down as one of the roughest in NHL history. Los Angeles racked up 75 penalty minutes, Minnesota 79. In the final third, five players from each team were sent off the ice after a mass brawl. The Kings are in third place in the Pacific Division and have the best chance of advancing to the playoffs.

Bitter evening for Moser

Things aren’t looking as good for Arizona and Janis Moser. After leading the Dallas Stars by 2:5, the Coyotes are in penultimate place in the Central Division. Moser leaves the ice with a balance of minus 3. (SDA/che)
