The best slalom rider of the winter is Manuel Feller (31). With four victories and fifth place as his worst result, the Austrian secured the small ball. No wonder that after the last race people toasted the greatest success of his career.

“We celebrated until 3 a.m.,” Feller reveals on the show “Sport and Talk from Hangar-7.” «The whole team enjoyed it. I guess if you don’t celebrate something like that, then what?” The crystal ball was simply misused. When turned upside down it can be used as a drinking bucket, as Feller shows on Instagram.

A terrifying moment in the morning

Although he even takes her into the whirlpool, she wakes up the next morning with a shock: the ball is gone. After a short time, Feller can breathe a sigh of relief. “My physio called me and asked if I knew the ball was in his bed,” he says, laughing. How did she get there? Very simple: the celebration took place in the physio room. At least it survived everything unscathed, he just had to clean it.

His physiotherapist Fabian Krismer not only played an important role in taking care of the ball. After his triumph, Feller surprises with a new haircut. The lion’s mane has disappeared, the hair is very short. Responsible for this: Krismer. “We cut each other’s hair,” Feller reveals.

His physio had a similar lion’s mane. He told ORF during the race: “We agreed last summer that we would like to donate the hair and that Saalbach would be an ideal option.” Now the project has been put into practice.

I wanted to skip the season

Feller doesn’t fully realize what he has achieved this winter. It will take some time, but he enjoys it and is grateful. He probably did not expect such a fantastic season. During his participation in the World Cup slalom in February 2023, he fell heavily and suffered bone marrow edema in his right hip.

This plagued him all summer, so much so that in August he even considered skipping the season. “Now I’m glad I didn’t do it,” he told the Kleine Zeitung. Because “this is a lifelong dream come true.” (beer)
