The side derby between FC Aarau and FC Baden had to start late on Saturday evening. The reason for this was guest fans who lit pyros and caused material damage during their fan march to Brügglifeld, as the police of the canton of Aargau write.
After the final whistle, both fan camps clashed and provoked each other. The police were on the scene with a contingent and used coercive measures – but there were still riots. On the way to the train station, police were pelted with various objects and used pepper spray and scrap rubber against the chaotic people.
During the operation, four police vehicles were damaged by thrown stones, but according to current knowledge no one was injured, Kapo Aargau reports. The game ended 2-0 for FC Aarau, it is the third victory in the third game of the current season for the third-placed team in the Challenge League. (ch)
