Pauli Good: Absolutely, he was the best ever (laughs).

How do you feel?
What Lara has shown is wonderful. I’m so proud of her. Because the initial situation was not easy. She had to reach the finish line somehow, but couldn’t risk too much. It’s incredible how she pulled it off.

How tense were your nerves, and those of your wife Gabriella?
The past week has already been intense. We had to wait so long, but we wanted it done quickly.

And during the race?
We saw on Saturday with Marco Odermatt how quickly things can happen: one small mistake and you’re out.

Lara enjoyed great success as a teenager. At the age of almost 33, she has long since won everything there is to win.
She has been participating in the World Cup for 16 years – and with these results. That’s incredible. There is a lot of work, passion and experience behind it. At the same time, I would like to praise Federica Brignone, who won the giant slalom – her season is also sensational.

They taught Lara to ski. Is he riding stronger today than ever before?
In terms of results, certainly. Crucially, Lara always wants to get better – not just on skis, but also in other things in life.

What makes them so good on the slopes?
A lot of. But every now and then she starts the turn too early – then she has to wait a few hundredths and puts the skis a little sideways. That’s kind of the problem. But of course: that is complaining at a high level, after all she has just won the giant ball.

Her daughter is the oldest overall World Cup winner in history. How can she do that?
Lara is alone at the start and has to fix it, that should be clearly stated. But I would also like to give a big compliment to Alejo Hervas, your Kondi coach. He plays an important role in our success because he always tries to bring new input. By the way, he and Lara speak Spanish to each other, which she really likes.

Lara has announced that she will continue for another winter. Why doesn’t it stop now, at the climax?
She hasn’t reached her potential yet and wants more. But who knows: maybe she’ll say she’s resigning tomorrow.

Is this a realistic scenario?
You never know. Maybe she won’t do it again next week (smiles).
