American woman wins overall Cross-country Skiing World Cup

The American Jessie Diggins (32) has secured the overall World Cross-country Skiing Championships for the second time after 2021. The Tour de Ski winner from Minnesota achieved a power demonstration in Falun (Sd) over 20 km with a mass start at the end of the season. She wins the skating race ahead of the two Norwegians Hedi Weng (32) and Anne Kjersti Kalvaa (31).

It is her sixth World Cup victory this season, in which only the Swede Linn Svahn (24) could have threatened her in the general classification. With the two bonus sprints won by Diggins, the decision for the large crystal ball will be made during the race.

Nadja Kälin (22) is the best Swiss woman in 40th place. Nadine Fähndrich (28) came 47th.

Kraft wins the overall Ski Jumping World Cup for the third time

For the third time after 2017 and 2020, Stefan Kraft won the overall Ski Jumping World Cup. The 30-year-old from Salzburg got the last points he needed by winning the first of two ski races in Vikersund, Norway. He leaves compatriot Daniel Huber (31), who covered the best distance of 247.5 meters, and the Slovenian Domen Prevc (24) behind him. Gregor Deschwanden (33) is the only Swiss in 21st place with 206 m.

Norwegian double victory in the first Women’s Ski Flying World Cup

Norwegians Eirin Maria Kvandal (22) and Silje Opseth (24) celebrate a spectacular double success at the first official Women’s Ski Flying World Cup. Kvandal flew 202 and 212 m in Vikersund and took the victory. Her compatriot Opseth set a world record for female ski jumpers with a flight of 230.5 m.

The most important decisions in the general classification will be made in the penultimate match of the World Cup winter. The 19-year-old Slovenian Nika Prevc is the overall World Cup winner after her 11th place, while Kvandal is the winner of the Raw Air Tour. There are no Swiss women at the start of the ski flying premiere in Norway. (SDA/mbi)
