Will Verstappen stay?: Red Bull boss Horner lost the power struggle

Harmony is over: Since the trench war over Helmut Marko, Max Verstappen (l.) and Christian Horner have only met for business purposes.

The “Horner case” is far from over. But Red Bull Honda team boss Christian Horner (50) has lost the power struggle for the time being! His ego trip to total domination (along with the Thai majority shareholders) failed. Especially thanks to Max Verstappen (26). His threat to leave if team leader Helmut Marko (80) were no longer there had effect. Even though Horner says, “I know 16 pilots would take his place immediately.”

And in the case of mastermind Adrian Newey (65), Horner is no longer combative: “Contracts can always be canceled!” Well, Mercedes continues to flirt with Verstappen – and Ferrari is now trying to lure Newey to Maranello for a third time. Horner’s banal conclusion: “No one is bigger than Red Bull.”

What does the claimant do?

What does Horner’s ‘victim’ do? The complaint about “inappropriate behaviour” by his personal assistant was rejected by an independent lawyer. But because no one except Horner is allowed to know the verdict, there are still many doubts. If the woman (with new lawyers) actually goes to civil court, things could become very uncomfortable for Horner again. Follow-up to follow.

Wolff puts Mercedes against the wall

Hamilton (39) fell into a crisis at Mercedes. Is he already at Ferrari? He had his worst start to the season since 2010 with eight points. He lost four qualifying matches in a row. He has never been in the top six in five races! Things also did not go well with his boss Toto Wolff (52) during Netflix recordings in Imola. He smashed the Mercedes-AMG-GT3 into the wall – unlike his new gem, Andrea “Kimi” Antonelli (17). Wolff must keep the Italian warm, just like Ferrari must keep the British Oliver Bearman (18) after his sensational premiere as Sainz’s replacement in Jeddah. The Prema colleagues meet again in Formula 2 in Australia.

Boxing horror at Sauber

At KICK-Sauber, the wheel nut problem in Melbourne should finally disappear. The most brutal statistic after the flops with Bottas (52 seconds of idle time in Bahrain) and Zhou (22 seconds in Saudi Arabia): In total, the two drivers spent exactly 100.01 seconds in the pits during their seven stops in 2024! By comparison, Sainz needed just 98.14 seconds for his 34 Ferrari stops last season.
