There’s a backstory: Will things happen between DiDomenico and Koskinen again?

In the last qualifying match, Fribourg made up for a 0-2 deficit against Lugano and won 4-2.

They are important players for their teams and they fought against each other in the last game: Chris DiDomenico from Friborg and Lugano goalkeeper Mikko Koskinen. The two 35-year-olds like to give free rein to their emotions.

What happened? Gottéron will be in Lugano on February 29 and will be given opportunities. DiDomenico has one. In the 8th minute, the Canadian attacks the Finnish goalkeeper alone and wants to beat him on the tackling side. Despite the offside whistle blowing, DiDomenico still finishes. This angers Koskinen and he hits his opponent with the blocker. Pack formation, discussions.

Of course, the Gottéron mercenary did not forget that in the middle third when he paved the way for a 4-2 victory with his important 2-2 equalizer in the 36th minute. He can’t help it: After celebrating the goal with his teammates, DiDomenico drives past Koskinen – and inconspicuously sticks his tongue out at him.

Does fan anger affect Koskinen?

Before the quarter-final match, both foreigners seemed tame when asked about the scenes. “These things don’t matter at all,” Koskinen says, smiling. ‘Did I see it? Not really. He does what he wants, it doesn’t affect me.”

DiDomenico also holds back: “I don’t think there is a problem between Koskinen and Fribourg or me. He is an excellent, very emotional goalkeeper, who obviously needs that to be able to perform.” Everyone knows: DiDomenico also needs these emotions every now and then.

The fact that Koskinen recently messed with the audience in Fribourg leaves the Finn cold. Before Christmas he was very annoyed with the ice masters because the fence kept moving out of place every time he moved it. Angrily, he hits the Plexi with his stick in the direction of the ice masters. However, Koskinen is not concerned about the fans’ possible anger, but rather “whether they have found a way to make the goal stick better.”
