54th Engadin Ski Marathon: Werro on the podium, Cologna right behind

Giuliana Werro comes second behind Maëlle Veyre at the 54th Engadin Ski Marathon. Because the Frenchwoman is subsequently disqualified, the Swiss inherits the victory.

At Veyre the fluorine content on the ski turned out to be too high. The alleged winner was disqualified and Werro was subsequently declared the winner.

Norway had to wait ten years for its fourth victory in the cross-country skiing classic in the Engadine. At the 54th edition, the Scandinavians achieved total triumph. After 40 km, Magne Haga was ahead of his compatriots Thomas Bucher-Johannessen and Filip Fjeld Andersen with a time of 1:44:42 hours.

The latter triumphs in the final sprint against the great Dario Cologna. The Graubünden resident, who ended his active career two years ago and has already won the Engadine Ski Marathon four times, leads the race for a while and eventually ends up in a good but thankless 4th place. With Fabrizio Albasini (5th), Nicola Wigger (6th), Janik Riebli (8th) and Thomas Bing (9th), four other Swiss are in the top ten.

Due to the fresh snow and mild temperatures, the route did not cross the Silsmeer or the Silvaplanermeer. In order to reach the marathon distance, an extra loop was constructed. (SDA)
