The field of participants at the Swiss Open in Gstaad has been further expanded this year with the addition of the Greek Stefanos Tsitsipas. The two-time Grand Slam finalist is visiting the Bernese Oberland for the first time.
World number eleven Tsitsipas will be one of the main draws alongside Australian Alex de Minaur (ATP 10), who triumphed at the ATP 500 tournament in Acapulco last week, and two-time Swiss Indoors winner Félix Auger- Aliassim (ATP 31). It will be a clay tournament that will be held from July 15 to 21. Stan Wawrinka (ATP 70) and Dominic Stricker (ATP 111), who won the doubles competition in Gstaad last year, will play in Saanenland again this year.
The proximity of the Olympic tournament in Roland-Garros is beneficial for the organizers’ plans this year. Tsitsipas and De Minaur use the Swiss Open to prepare for the Olympic Games. (SDA)
