Margot Chevrier does not lose sight of her great goal.

Margot Chevrier (24) caused a moment of shock last weekend during the World Indoor Championships in Glasgow, Scotland. When one of her attempts was aborted, the French pole vaulter severely twisted her left foot. Their cries of pain pierce the bones of spectators and athletes alike. Her shoe is unnaturally turned inward and blood is also visible.

Medical staff immediately attended to Chevrier and she was taken out of the room on a stretcher. At the hospital, doctors immediately operated on her broken ankle. The Frenchwoman posted on social media on Monday.

“We can be honest”

“I could have returned from the World Cup with a medal, but instead I brought three screws in my foot from Glasgow,” she wrote with a photo of her lying in a hospital bed with her leg in a cast. Her diagnosis: open ankle fracture and dislocated ankle bone. A skin graft was also performed during the operation.

The injury comes at the worst possible time for Chevrier. The Olympic Games will take place in Paris in about five months. Although a race against time now begins, she is not giving up on her goal of the home Olympics just yet. “We can be honest: the injury is serious, the position on the body is not the best choice and it will be a long road,” Chevier wrote. But she has five months to get back on her feet and qualify – even if another operation awaits her in France.

Chevrier describes the whole thing as an extra challenge and another adventure. And she tackles it aggressively. Because at the end of her post she writes: “See you in Paris.” (beer)
