The Horner case is already bringing two parties closer together: Mercedes (winless for 24 races) and the entire Verstappen clan with manager Vermeulen. Father Jos Verstappen and the year-old (52, once Benetton teammate of Schumi) told Blick: “There is no piece of paper between us. We fully support Red Bull’s headquarters in Austria. But we will do what is best for Max.”

The war and contact

In the English ‘Daily Mail’, Dutch Red Bull team boss Christian Horner (50) officially declared war: “He portrays himself as a victim, but he is responsible for all the problems. This thing is going to explode!”

Contacts have already been made with Mercedes boss Toto Wolff (52). The sporting situation is clear: without serial winner Verstappen, the bull car will be about 0.3 seconds slower and the Silver Arrow 0.3 seconds faster. That is the current difference.

‘Corporate F1’ strikes

The investigative magazine ‘Business F1’, which is feared in Formula 1, threw most of the fuel into the Horner case. The drama is served to the amazed reader in more than 15 pages.

Of course, not all facts can be checked. But the editor-in-chief of ‘Business F1’ has survived all the exposed scandals surrounding the circus for years.

Horner’s dismissal was ready

It now appears that Red Bull GmbH in Fuschl near Salzburg had been aware of the employee’s complaints against Horner for weeks. The magazine even puts the two warring parties on the cover.

For the new Red Bull boss Oliver Mintzlaff and his close associates it was clear: we have to fire Horner! Apparently the short letter (they didn’t want to expose Horner) was already ready to be sent. They did not want to stop him from leaving ‘for health reasons’.

Horner refused to accept the termination and insisted on his contractual arbitration clause, which entitled him to an independent investigation. He also warned his friends at the 51 percent majority shareholder in Thailand.

Mintzlaff, who had probably known about Horner’s misconduct for weeks, had to wait for the verdict. And on February 28, people in Austria, along with the woman involved, were shocked that Horner, who sought all power, had been acquitted.

Did ‘Business F1’ leak the chat?

While the lawyer went into hiding after the ‘acquittal’, the magazine allegedly leaked the facts with the chat and photos to the media and team bosses. That would at least explain the initially anonymous source.
