Raphael Wicky (45) has lost his position as YB coach. A scenario that was not suggested by anything three months ago. The Wicky Crash Log.

Six months before the end of his contract, Wicky’s future is still completely open. “We will sit down at the beginning of this year,” promises YB sports director Steve von Bergen (40) in a Blick interview.

‘I’m dirty. Really dirty!”, Jean-Pierre Nsamé (30) complains about his role as reserve after the last match of the year against Lausanne-Ouchy (3-1). “What player in Europe, who has done so much for a club and feels in such good form, would accept playing so little if he were me?” said the Cameroonian. “I want more playing time,” says defender Aurèle Amenda (20).

Because he no longer feels valued enough in Bern, Nsame would like to move back to Servette. But YB does not want to give up its striker to a league competitor. Shortly afterwards, Nsame disappeared. The striker will not move to Geneva, but to Como in the second Italian league. He later publicly withdraws from YB. With Ulisses Garcia (28), another star from the Bernese team leaves for Marseille. The in-form Donat Rrudhani (24) is loaned to Lausanne.

First, defender Loris Benito (32) was out for months with a torn cruciate ligament, after which playmaker Filip Ugrinic (25) broke his left big toe. Within two weeks, YB lost two of its most important players this season.

YB now says they will meet in the spring to clarify Wicky’s contract situation. “I am relatively relaxed and so is the club,” says the Valais about his expiring working document.

After the first leg (1:3) in Bern it was already clear that YB had nothing to win in the second round of the Europa League. The fact that the Bernese drew 1-1 against Sporting Lisbon in the second leg was because the Portuguese went three gears slower and YB goalkeeper von Ballmoos saved a penalty.
