Bitter disappointment for YB in Valais. Instead of reacting to the weak performance in the top match of the Super League against Servette (0:1), they suffered a bitter 1:2 defeat against Sion in the quarter-finals of the cup. The next slap in the neck.

YB coach Raphael Wicky then spoke in an SRF interview about a “big disappointment for everyone”. They did not find enough solutions against a well-organized Zion. Sandro Lauper feels the same. ‘We woke up too late. And when Sion scores the goals, football is easy.”

Lauper and Wicky also agree that YB is currently going through a “difficult phase.” “The players’ self-confidence suffers. You see that in certain situations. Now we have to stand together as a team. Meanwhile, Lauper believes in team cohesion. “When one thing comes before another, everything else comes back.”

It is bitter that we missed a clear goal for the season with the cup away, but Lauper immediately wants to look ahead again: “Now the focus is on the championship. We are still first there.”
