After the victory over Hoffenheim, some Union players will celebrate.

In mid-February, Union Berlin won 1-0 against Hoffenheim in the Bundesliga. Reason enough for a few players to celebrate the victory. A group led by Kevin Volland (31) is on the road until the early morning hours. Then an unpleasant incident occurs.

According to “Bild”, the Union attacker wears a luxury watch on his wrist. The rose gold jewelry is worth approximately 170,000 francs and attracts the attention of a 16-year-old criminal.

Without further ado, he sets an accomplice on Volland. He intercepts the footballer in front of a bar and starts a conversation with him. The goal: to distract. In this common scam, thieves steal cell phones, jewelry or watches from unsuspecting conversation partners. That is exactly what happens to Volland.

Thief caught – watch damaged

Before he knows it, the jewelry has disappeared from his wrist. As “Bild” further reports, a scuffle broke out and the perpetrator fled. What then follows is the big performance of Jérôme Roussillon (31). Volland’s teammate observes the scene as he is about to get into a taxi. And without further ado, he begins to chase the thief. Volland himself also runs after him, but falls and is slightly injured.

Roussillon does better, he actually manages to catch the thief. However, during the action he throws the watch on the ground and it is badly damaged. The police arrested him and are investigating “the alleged perpetrator for serious theft and damage to property”, as they said when asked by “Bild”.

Even if Volland’s watch didn’t survive unscathed, he at least knows he can rely on his teammate off the football field. (beer)
