However, racing is not yet being considered. That is why Shiffrin wrote off the topic of the overall World Cup. In this ranking, with nine races to go, of which the American will compete in a maximum of six, she is 205 points behind Lara Gut-Behrami (32). “I had to come to terms with the fact that the overall ranking was mathematically very far off,” Shiffrin says. And adds: “It wasn’t about fighting for it or not fighting for it. It just wasn’t possible.” Because one thing is clear: “I would have tried.”

Instead, she was able to see the races from a different perspective. Shiffrin gets excited about Gut-Behrami. “Lara was impressive to watch. She is really at a very high level at the moment.” You just have to appreciate that, even if she wanted to race against them.

Will Gut-Behrami withdraw?

Shiffrin was not only impressed by the Swiss’ performance, but also by that of her teammates. She regrets that she was not there to celebrate the podium finishes of AJ Hurt (23) and Paula Moltzan (29). She now hopes to return to Are.
