Now there is AHV: football legend is retired

class=”sc-cffd1e67-0 iQNQmc”>

Three more sleeps and then the football legend will officially retire, because he will be celebrating on Wednesday Urs “Longo” Schönenberger his 65th birthday. He celebrated his greatest success as a coach in 2005, when he unexpectedly led Thun to the Champions League (photo).

National hockey team: Longest tenure of the coaches

1. Ralph Krueger (64): 12 years and 3 months
A record for eternity? The German-Canadian was our national coach for more than twelve years. No one has lasted longer since World War II. The highlight of this time? 4th place at the Home World Cup in 1998.

2. Patrick Fischer (48): 8 years and 2 months
This week it was announced that Fischer has extended his contract as national coach until the 2026 home World Cup. If he stays in office for that long, he would still not be able to displace Krueger from number 1 on this list.

3. Simon Schenk († 2020): 4 years and 4 months
The Emmentaler was national coach twice: once between 1985 and 1990 and once between 1995 and 1997. In 2020, Schenk died unexpectedly as a result of a stroke during heart surgery.

4. Sean Simpson (63): 4 years
It was a demanding task when the Canadian took over from Krueger in 2010. But Simpson solved this problem brilliantly and surprisingly led Switzerland to a silver medal at the 2013 World Cup.

5. Rudolf Killias († 2010): 3 years and 4 months
The nephew of the legendary “Bibi” Torriani coached not only the Swiss national team (1973 to 1977), but also the Austrian team (1980 to 1986). He died in 2010 at the age of 66 after a short illness.

Last weekend, Bayern was wrong-footed by Bayer Leverkusen. Will that happen again next Sunday in Bochum to the residents of Munich? There is one who will fight it tooth and nail Thomas Muller. He was already at the competition in Bochum in 2009. The then only twenty-year-old and his teammates stepped on the opponent’s toes and won comfortably 5-1.

That’s how much the new Californian club Bay FC will pay for the player Racheal Kundananji. Never before has such a high transfer fee been paid for a footballer. The Zambian recently played for Real Madrid. The new season in the US starts in mid-March.
