Milosevic shock and Zanotti bad luck: FCSG has bad luck in his cleats

Everything was still fine for the FCSG: Milosevic (l.) celebrates his opening goal.

Edward A. Murphy (1918–1990), the world-famous American engineer, is currently said to be very happy at FC St. Gallen. Because almost everything that can go wrong is currently going wrong in Eastern Switzerland. And that confirms Murphy’s law.

First, Stuttgart loanee Jovan Milosevic (18) has to leave the field with a serious ankle injury after his first professional goal. Then Mattia Zanotti (21) sees yellow-red because he bumps into his opponent and involuntarily prevents a counterattack. To make matters worse, Willem Geubbels (22), originally intended for the starting eleven, injured his thigh during the warm-up. Murphy would have clapped both hands.

Zeidler remains optimistic

“The season has a lot of tests in store for us,” said Peter Zeidler (61), commenting on the green-white run of bad luck. The 2-2 draw against Winti is the fifth game in a row without a trio. Basil Stillhart (29), no longer wanted at FCSG in the summer, even had the winning goal on his foot at the end of the match, but put the ball wide of the goal. It would have been the icing on the cake for the St. Gallen team. “That would have fit the situation if he had gone in,” Zeidler said.

But in the end there is at least one point. And the end of the series of bankruptcies. «We broke the momentum with four defeats in a row. If we beat Ouchy next weekend, everything will be fine again,” says Zeidler. Although the Eastern Swiss are currently in third place, qualifying for the Champions Group will not be an unqualified success.

Milosevic is a promise

Because the team from St. Gallen will have to make do without their two most important players, Jordi Quintillà and Lukas Görtler, until after Nati’s break. Milosevic, who despite his 192 centimeters is technically skilled and not without reason made Bundesliga appearances for VfB Stuttgart this season, will also be out for a longer period of time.

That is bitter, says Zeidler. Because the young striker understands the game well: “He knows something about football.” Zeidler himself is also an expert with clear handwriting. For the 103rd time in a row, there is no 0-0 under him as coach. Will spectacular football comfort him during the results crisis?
