Footballer Quincy Promes (31) was recently sentenced to 18 months in prison and 7,000 euros in compensation for stabbing his cousin in the knee during a family party in the summer of 2020.
Now there is the following court ruling against the 50-time Dutch international. He has now been sentenced to six years in prison for smuggling more than 1.3 tons of cocaine with a business partner in early 2020. The Public Prosecution Service had actually demanded nine years. According to Telegraaf, the sentence is lower because the court has examined comparable cases in which the sentence was milder.
Promes himself was not present at the ruling. He lives in Russia, where he plays for Spartak Moscow. He avoids traveling back home because he is threatened with arrest there. Immediately after the ruling, his lawyer announced that the footballer would appeal. (beer)
