Dream duo of swinging at the end: Pirmin Reichmuth breaks free from his grinder

The evil Pirmin Reichmuth from Zug and the Aargau grinder Tommy Herzog have long been considered a dream duo in wrestling. Under fitness coach Herzog, Reichmuth has developed from a 6-foot-2 Sprenzel into a 130-pound muscle beast that buried king Christian Stucki, who was also coached by Herzog, in the sawdust during the last federal competition in Pratteln.

Five months ago, the trained butcher also cut a series of allies at Unspunnen – after victories against Matthias Aeschbacher, Andreas Döbli, Armon Orlik and Florian Gnägi, Reichmuth took second place behind Samuel Giger.

However, the 28-year-old and his coach could not be really happy after the showdown in Interlaken due to the dive into third gear against Benjamin Gapany from south-west Switzerland. And now it is clear that a very special era has ended at Unspunnen: The 2019 Brünig triumphant has ended his collaboration with the former vice Swiss champion in four-man bobsleigh!

“Differences arose”

The model athlete and the trainer do not want to make public the details that led to this separation. But Reichmuth notes that “after eleven wonderful years, the relationship between Tommy and I was quite exhausted. Differences of opinion arose between us that could not be bridged so quickly. That is why a divorce was the best solution for both parties.”

While Herzog continues to care for Reichmuth’s twin brothers Marco and Roland, Pirmin, who runs a physio practice in Cham together with karate fighter Angela Felber, completes the strength and conditioning training on his own. «Because I have been able to learn a lot from Tommy in this area over the years, it is working quite well so far. And when it comes to swing training in sawdust, I have an absolute standout in the Central Swiss team with Martin Grab.” Pirmin Reichmuth starts the wreath festival season on May 5 on the occasion of the Zug Canton Festival.
