Quincy Promes must pay compensation to his cousin.

New problems for Dutch footballer Quincy Promes (31). As De Telegraaf reports, he was sentenced by the Amsterdam court to 18 months in prison and compensation of 7,000 euros.

The court thus confirms a judgment delivered last year. The reason for this was an incident during a family party in July 2020. Promes allegedly stabbed his cousin in the knee. The footballer appealed against the first verdict. That didn’t help, now it’s confirmed.

Next ruling in mid-February

This is not the only criminal case in which Promes is currently involved. Only in January did the Public Prosecution Service demand a nine-year prison sentence for drug smuggling. In 2020, Promes is said to have smuggled more than 1.3 tons of cocaine together with a business partner. Two deliveries were seized in the port of the Belgian city of Antwerp.

Orange frog wants to become Russian

Promes is said to be part of a drug trafficking network together with his uncle. However, this uncle has been in custody since the spring of 2023. The footballer’s verdict is expected in mid-February.

I wanted to be Russian

The Dutchman has not been back to his home country for some time. The reason: when he enters the country, he is arrested because of the conviction for the attempted murder of a family member and the accusation of involvement in drug trafficking. That is why, according to reports in the Dutch media, Promes wanted to naturalize in Russia in December 2022. His club Spartak Moscow applied for a passport for him at the time. Apparently he hasn’t received it yet.

If he became Russian, he would no longer have to fear extradition. But even then, an international arrest warrant remains in force. And Spartak Moscow would have to do without Promes in international matches. Because if he sets foot in another country, he will be imprisoned and probably extradited to the Netherlands. (beer)
