Diving: Heimberg ninth on the 1m board at the World Championships

class=”sc-cffd1e67-0 iQNQmc”>

Michelle Heimberg from Aargau is one of the best divers in the world.

Heimberg, who had just qualified twelfth for the final medal competition, was even on course for the podium as third in the intermediate rankings after four of the five jumps. However, after a not entirely clean final jump, the 23-year-old from Aargau was passed backwards.

Ultimately, Heimberg, who became European champion in the non-Olympic discipline last summer, was separated from a podium place by more than 8.5 points. Australian Alysha Koloi became world champion with 260.5 points.

Heimberg will get another chance from the 3m board on Thursday (qualifying) and Friday (final). In the Olympic discipline, she achieved her best World Cup result to date in sixth place two years ago. (SDA)
