Aleksander Aamodt Kilde had a terrible fall in Wengen.

On January 13, Aleksander Aamodt Kilde (31) landed in the safety nets on the Lauberhorn. When he took a terrible fall in the finish S, the ski fans took their breath away. The diagnosis: cruel. A shoulder injury and a deep cut in his leg mean the end of the season.

Not only the fans suffered from the Norwegian, but of course also his parents Kristin Aamodt Kilde and Einar Schie Kilde. With an emotional post on Instagram, his mother now provides insight into how they felt at this fateful moment. “As a mother and father, it is heartbreaking to see Aleksander fall into the net in Wengen,” she wrote. Because even though you mentally prepare for such moments, reality hits hard.

“Still walking”

At the same time, there is a lot of admiration in the words. “As he begins the arduous journey back, his optimism and smile make our hearts swell,” added Mami Kilde. She underlines the whole thing with a series of photos. These show parents looking at their son’s sickbed or pushing him around in a wheelchair, laughing. “95 kilos heavier, 31 years later – still walking,” she says about the whole thing.

At the end of her message, Kristin Aamodt Kilde gives special thanks to Mikaela Shiffrin (28), her son’s girlfriend. Shortly after Kilde’s fall, the American woman and her family boarded a plane and flew to Bern to support him. “Thank you for all your support behind the scenes,” Mami Kilde wrote. «You made sure that Aleksander was treated by the best. Family is everything!”

And the family can now fully enjoy Aleksander Aamodt Kilde. Not only his parents are with him, but also his girlfriend Shiffrin. She also has to take a break after her terrible fall in Cortina d’Ampezzo (It) and spends it with her lover. “Take it day by day,” she writes about photos from the shared wounded camp. And adds: “I really can’t complain about the past few days.” (beer)
