Response to Hamman criticism?: Bayern leadership launches counter-offensive for Tuchel

The Bayern leadership launches a counter-offensive.

Bayern Munich complained in a statement about “non-objective statements” about coach Thomas Tuchel. As CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen and sports director Christoph Freund were quoted in the statement, the club “will no longer accept unobjective statements against our coach that always come from the same place.”

They left it unclear who exactly the people of Munich were criticizing. On Sunday, ‘Didi’ sharply criticized Hamann Tuchel, among others, for his statements that a job abroad would ‘certainly appeal to him again’. During a visit to the fan club, Tuchel emphasized that Spain in particular had “an exceptional competition”.

Hamann subsequently described these statements as ‘insolence’. “Then he sits down and talks about Xavi, about the successor and that he would like to train in Barcelona or Spain,” the former professional criticized on the “Sky90” show.

Bayern emphasized on Monday that Tuchel had “never spoken about Xavi Hernández and his successor”. The coach’s statements were “completely correct and okay”, Dreesen told the Munich Merkur: “I am much more surprised at what was partly made of it. That goes too far.”

In November there was already a long dispute between Bayern and TV experts. Tuchel himself sharply criticized Sky experts Hamann and Lothar Matthäus at the time for their statements after the away match at Borussia Dortmund (4-0). (AFP/dti)
