Five countries, five skiers, five sincere recovery wishes: the ski circus is suffering under Corinne Suter (29) and Joana Hählen (32). The two Swiss women who tore their cruciate ligaments in Cortina (It) will not easily be forgotten. “From now on we will not only ride for ourselves, but also for both of them. We miss her,” says Delia Durrer (21).

The skiing talent from Nidwalden is far from the only one who suffered from many injuries last weekend. On the contrary, there is great concern. French speedster Romane Miradoli (29) writes in her greeting: “Soyez fortes les filles. Patience, strength and courage.” She wishes Suter and Hählen patience, strength and courage. The same goes for Federica Brignone (33, It), the 2023 combined world champion.

“Get better,” writes the New Zealand ski prodigy Alice Robinson (22) – Suter and Hählen must return as soon as possible. Austrian Stephanie Venier (30), who won the downhill on Friday, also wishes only the best.

And Ragnhild Mowinckel (31, no)? She has also been injured frequently and seriously in her career. Translated from Norwegian she says: “Dear Corinne and Ana. You are great. I wish you a quick recovery. See you soon and a big hug, Ragnhild.”

Suter looks ahead

Suter is touched when Blick sends her the photos. “Seeing something like this means a lot to me,” she says. The operation on the left knee went well. “I am in the best hands at the Hirslanden Clinic and I am already looking forward to it again – even though it is tough.” It is quite possible that Suter can go home on Tuesday. She will first discuss this with the doctors.

And chickens? She has not yet decided whether she will undergo surgery on her right knee; further investigations to follow. Walking on crutches, she says: “I am optimistic again and ready to take on this challenge.”
