The “6-point match” between SCB and pursuer Davos is on edge, the Bernese are 1-0 ahead when the referees announce a penalty against the home team. Thierry Schild is sent to the penalty area for allegedly making a foul on Davos defender Enzo Guebey (24).

Neither coach Josh Holden nor his teammates blamed him. “If my opponent had been close to me or if I wasn’t sure, I probably wouldn’t have said anything,” says the moral winner of the evening. «I don’t think we wanted to win the match by making such a decision. It makes me feel better and I hope no one is mad at me.”
There is a lot of praise from the opponent. “That’s fantastic,” said SCB coach Jussi Tapola when he discovered long after the 4-2 win why the penalty against Schild was canceled. “That should be a role model for every player in the league.” The Finn says he has never experienced this himself, but it has also happened in his home country. “I have to give him a big compliment.”
Thanks to the victory, SCB once again has a three-point lead over Strich and Servette. The HCD is six points behind and has now lost the direct match of the season against SCB, which is decisive in the event of a draw.
Guebey had already played a major role in HCD’s first defeat in Bern (2:3). At that point, he was given a 5-minute penalty early in the match for checking Joshua Fahrni and had to take an early shower, which SCB used to score two goals.
