Snowboard cross in St. Moritz: two Swiss podium finishes in the home race

The Swiss snowboard cross team is set to soar at the home World Cup in St. Moritz. Sophie Hediger finished second on the podium, as did Kalle Koblet, who also finished second.

In her 30th World Cup competition, 25-year-old Sophie Hediger is in the top 4 for the first time. The 19th Olympic Games. from Beijing even advanced to the top from 4th place in the final, but was intercepted by Eva Adamczykova at the end. The Czech immediately takes victory on her return to the World Cup – her 19th overall.

Sina Siegenthaler, who won the last Snowboard Cross World Cup competition in Italy in December, was eliminated in the semi-finals due to a fall during an overtaking maneuver. In the small final, the Emmental woman took second place and finished in 6th place.

Fifth podium for Koblet

Two-time Olympian Koblet is also not a fast starter. However, from round 16 onwards he still finds his way to the top positions in all four heats. Only Canadian Eliot Grondin is faster in the final. Koblet is on the World Cup podium for the fifth time – last March the 26-year-old from Winterthur in the Sierra Nevada was even celebrated as the winner.
