“It was surprising to me”: that’s what Peter Zeidler says about Sutter-Aus

The collaboration between St. Gallen and sports director Alain Sutter (55) lasted exactly six years before it suddenly came to an end just after New Year’s Eve. Few people expected this. The news even caused a furore within the club. Coach Peter Zeidler (61) was especially surprised.

«I heard about the decision of the board of directors. It was surprising for me too,” Zeidler told Blue on the sidelines of Swiss Football Night.

The man who guided Zeidler to St. Gallen in 2018 has left. “I will always be grateful to him for that. “He gave me the opportunity to work at such a great club,” says Zeidler. He harmonized very well with Sutter. They have now had contact with each other. “We texted. Not hundreds, just a few. I thanked him and he also thanked me for what he could learn.”

Interact brilliantly

Now Zeidler is looking forward to the new sports director Roger Stilz (46). Both know each other from previous years. “It has now been eight years since he arrived in Salzburg as part of his training. We will work well together. With anyone else there would be an adjustment period,” the German explains.

When we went to the awards ceremony together, we noticed that we could talk about many things and that we understood each other well personally and substantively. «I firmly believe in us, also in Roger’s skills.
