“It’s enough – everyone to Bern!” The Basel Muttenzerkurve, the Zurich Südkurve, the Luzerner Kurve and the St. Gallen Espenblock, among others, are calling on their members to hold a joint meeting. The message is clear: regardless of club colors and parts of the country, a joint message against collective punishment must be sent on Saturday.

Major protest in Bern: fans of several clubs join forces

What the protest on Saturday evening will actually look like is anyone’s guess. It is not even clear where and when the bends in Bern meet. Only the Thuner Block Süd announces details in advance. From 3:45 p.m., the Bernese Oberlanders will gather at the train station before heading towards the federal city from 4:13 p.m. This suggests that the protest action will start before the YB-GC match in Wankdorf, which is scheduled for 6 p.m.

Saturday is a “black box”

There is nothing more to be found in advance. Blick asked various experts and researchers from the local fan scene. Even for them, Saturday is a black box. However, some insiders still cannot imagine that hostile fan groups such as those from FCZ and GC or from St. Gallen and Lucerne would actually appear at a joint demonstration. The chance of conflict is too great.

For experts, two other scenarios are therefore more conceivable. Either the curves are protesting in different places, or the action is taking place on a much smaller scale than expected. In the first case, they would successfully play a kind of cat-and-mouse game with the authorities. If the latter happens, the fan groups could then speak of a “disproportionate police deployment”, because there is a good chance that the police will mark their presence with a large contingent.

But they don’t want to reveal to their members until Friday evening what the curves really plan to do. It is quite possible that information will leak from this moment until Saturday afternoon. Until then, however, the puzzles continue happily.
