The rescue comes on Sunday in Wengen BE. Henrik Kristoffersen (29) is on the podium for the first time this season. He finished third in the slalom behind winner Manuel Feller (31, Austria) and his Norwegian compatriot Atle Lie Mcgrath (23). This after being eliminated once in seven previous technical races and having been placed between fifth and eighth.

Now Kristoffersen has the next reason to be happy. “The love of my life said yes!”, he announced his engagement to his long-time girlfriend Tonje Barkenes on Instagram on Monday evening. The two met at school. Kristoffersen himself provides the proof. In addition to a photo of the engagement ring on Barkenes’ hand, he also posted one showing the two as children.

But things only worked out between the two later. They have been a couple since 2016 and became parents for the first time last year. A few months after winning gold in the slalom at the World Championships, Kristoffersen announced the good news. “Our hearts are full and we are full of pride,” he wrote alongside a snapshot of the baby’s hands. Little Emil Henrik Kristoffersen was born on July 14, 2023.

Many congratulations

Now the next highlight awaits them both soon: their wedding. “The best friend and mother of our child will be the best woman I could ever imagine,” says Kristoffersen. The post contains numerous congratulatory messages from former and still active Norwegian ski stars. “Great! Congratulations,” writes ex-speed flyer Kjetil Jansrud (38). Nina Haver Loeseth (34), Rasmus Windingstad (30) and Adrian Smiseth Sejersted (29) are also participating.

Before we start planning the wedding, Kristoffersen’s focus remains on the Ski World Cup. His next mission comes this Sunday. Then the slalom classic takes place on the Ganslernhang in Kitzbühel (Austria). He is aiming for his first victory of the season in the race, which he has already won twice (2016 and 2018).
