Fastest Swiss in Lauberhorn training: Murisier is inspired by Odermatt

Second and last training in Wengen before the race weekend at Lauberhorn starts on Thursday with the shortened descent (replacement race for Beaver Creek).

The condition of the slopes is a topic of discussion among athletes. Niels Hintermann talks about the fact that he received one or two unexpected blows. He is especially happy with one passage: the Brüggli-S. “I did better than ever before.” To save energy he did not go from top to bottom. Yet he finishes seventh.

Marco Odermatt, who was the fastest during training on Tuesday, wanted to drive more or less normally there, “but I wasn’t that fast there, I still have to find out.” He no longer has to look at the first two sections, he sets the clearly best second split. Ultimately, in 16th place, he lost 1.4 seconds to the fastest, the Frenchman Cyprien Sarrazin – also because he dropped out before the finish.

“We will have it ready tomorrow”

Stefan Rogentin saw deep tracks during his journey. But he is optimistic about the slopes: “They will have it ready tomorrow.”

The best Swiss is Justin Murisier. What he wanted to do better compared to the day before, he succeeded. “I’m satisfied,” he said after second place and was inspired for the Brüggli-S by Odermatt, which he never nailed perfectly. “The way he rode it yesterday, I think I could do it too,” Murisier said. “Today I did better and I hope things will go a little better during the race.”

Aleksander Aamodt Kilde did not participate in the second training. The Norwegian, who finished sixth on Tuesday, will omit the tough program in the coming days. He already proved last year with his victories in the downhill and the Super-G that he has the Lauberhorn under control.
