Heracles Almelo showed in the top game against FC Eindhoven that the title contenders are number one in the first division. At home against the number three from Eindhoven, John Lammers’ team won 3-0 thanks to three goals from the defenders.

With this victory, Heracles consolidates their lead: The advantage over number two PEC Zwolle is now 5 points with one game more.

Heracles clinched the first-half title two weeks ago but lost the top game at PEC Zwolle a week later (3-2). That was the second loss in eleven games.

Against Eindhoven, who have won just once in their last five games, the leaders showed they are the main contenders for Eredivisie promotion for the time being.

Eindhoven barely came into play at Almelo. After half an hour with some chances, captain Justin Hoogma broke the game when his fat icicle flew into the corner from about twenty-five yards.

Not much later, Nikolai Laursen headed the ball back nicely and Mateo Les fired in after the rebound. That wasn’t quite as high, but Heracles went through the 2-0 reassured.

After the break little changed in the game. Marco Rente decided the game after an hour of play with a tight header. The third goal by a Heracles defender.

Eindhoven continued to press but it was thanks to Almelo goalkeeper Michael Brouwer, one of the stars of the night, that they didn’t score.

In Den Haag, coach Dirk Kuijt seems to be getting his ADO Den Haag into football somewhat – two wins in the last two games – but at home they didn’t go further than a 2-2 draw against low-flying De Graafschap.

It even seemed to go horribly wrong with twenty minutes to go when Basar Onal made it 2-1 for the super pawns with his second of the night. A few minutes later, Silvinho Esajas saved The Hague to make it 2-2.

At Willem II-Almere City, the fans of the home team received most of the attention. Just before half-time, the home side’s equalizer was denied by an early penalty by Jeredy Hilterman when the score was 0-1. The fans of Willem II then threw objects onto the field, after which the referee had to stop the game.

Two weeks ago, Tilburg’s home game against FC Den Bosch was canceled because firecrackers were thrown onto the pitch.

The equalizer for Willem II against Almere came in the second half thanks to Jeremy Bokila. Both teams tried to win, but the score remained 1-1.

Roda no chance in Oss

Roda JC probably had the worst night. During a visit to TOP Oss, the mid-engine lost 0:3. Roshon van Eijma opened the scoring on the hour, after which Jearl Margaritha secured victory with two goals.
