FC Twente beat PSV, Ajax remain unbeaten in the women’s Eredivisie

Defending champions FC Twente defeated PSV 3-1 in the women’s Eredivisie top flight. The team from Enschede are still without a point after four games, as are Feyenoord and Ajax. The team from Amsterdam also won 3-1 against Excelsior tonight.

Caitlin Dijkstra (from a corner) and Fenna Kalma (shot from a difficult angle) scored for Twente before half-time. For 22-year-old Kalma it was her seventh goal of the season. The top scorer of the past year is once again at the top of the scorer list.

At PSV, former international and ex-Twente player Kika van Es was eliminated early at the Grolsch Veste. The defender suffered a head injury after a collision. But PSV came back to 2-1 after an hour through Julie Biesmans, who gave Twente keeper Daphne van Domselaar the first goal of the season. But Twente quickly recovered the lead of two. A ball from Marisa Olislagers intended as a cross just disappeared into the goal: 3:1.

Fenna Kalma is Eredivisie’s top scorer with seven goals

The team from Eindhoven, third last season, has had a disappointing start to the season. PSV are sixth with four points from four games.

Main role Spitse in the first half

Orange captain Sherida Spitse played a prominent role in the duel between Ajax and Excelsior. The midfielder opened the scoring with a nice free kick. From more than twenty meters, she shot the ball flawlessly into the intersection.

After half an hour of play, Spitse had a negative role. She conceded a penalty by knocking over Excelsior’s Lieve van Vliet. Naomi Pique made it 2-1 from eleven yards. Shortly before, Ajax had made it 2-0 through Tiny Hoekstra, who scored after an unclean attack.

After the break, Ajax remained the better side and that led to Nikita Tromp making it 3-1, who shot through goalkeeper Isa Pothof’s legs.

Ajax celebrates Sherida Spitse’s 1-0

Bottom of the Eredivisie table, Heerenveen celebrated their first win of the season with a 4-0 win against Telstar. The only 17-year-old left winger Jet van Beijeren scored twice. The other Frisian goals were scored by Merel Bormans and Janneke Ennema.
