The longest-serving Formula 1 team boss since joining Red Bull in 2005 is Christian Horner (50). The Briton took part in all 369 races (113 wins, 95 pole positions, seven world titles ahead of Vettel and Verstappen). In 2013 he was awarded the title OBE (Officer of the British Empire). Now King Charles III ennobled him. to the CBE (Commander of the British Empire). The only thing missing is the title Sir, which was awarded to the late Stirling Moss and Frank Williams, as well as Jackie Stewart and Lewis Hamilton.
Even within his own team, Horner (married to ex-Spice Girl Geri Halliwell since May 2015) has not yet been honored with the highest award. Yes, the ever-combatant Bull King is only number four on his own team! The genius Adrian Newey (65) stands in front of the sun in the front of the car. Max Verstappen (26) steals the show in the cockpit – and Helmut Marko (80) sets the tone at the sporty control table.
Verstappen put an end to the internal power struggle for control relatively quickly: “It’s calm now!” A clear signal for Horner, because the Dutchman is on the Austrian’s side. Max: “It would be a joke if you started tearing each other apart in such a successful team!”
The Bulls’ B-team (still Alpha Tauri) is still looking for its new name for 2024. Apparently Visa has dropped out, are they now returning to Boss? Behind the scenes, outgoing team boss Franz Tost (67) is now apparently trying to secure a consultancy contract. On the sponsorship level, energy drink manufacturer Monster has said goodbye to Mercedes for McLaren after 14 years.
The fuss about the team name at Sauber continues. In an online Blick survey with 12,000 participants, more than 75 percent were disappointed that the Hinwilers with “Stake F1 Team” had removed their own name from the official FIA entry list! Let’s let the Viennese “Kronen-Zeitung” have its say on the whole drama: “No gambling advertising is allowed in Bahrain, Brazil, China, Japan, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and Abu Dhabi, the racing team should probably bear the name Schop F1 Team Start Clean.”
Kick is Stake’s internal streaming platform and serves as the namesake of the Kick Sauber C44 chassis. Stake was already a partner of Sauber in 2023. But in Australia, the country where the company was founded in 2017, in Belgium, Qatar and Spain, Stake had to disappear and Kick intervened. Now it will be interesting to see what capers await us soon.
