Déjà vu for Loïc Meillard (27): Shortly before the finishing slope in Adelboden, the Swiss top technician lost a ski due to a blow.
The same accident happened to Meillard during the season opener in Sölden (Austria). At the time it was the left ski binding that came loose. Now it is the right choice in Adelboden.
Meillard cannot explain it: “There was certainly a blow. But it does not make sense that the tire never works during training, but twice during the race.”
“That raises questions about this bond,” says SRF expert Marc Berthod during the live broadcast. By way of explanation: Meillard has been using a new binding model since this season.
The ending is all the more annoying because Meillard has not yet gotten up to speed as usual this season and achieved strong splits until he lost his skis on the Chuenisbärgli.
