It was a long tunnel that Timo Meier went through in recent weeks. The striker failed to score a single goal for nine games before scoring again against Edmonton on Thursday.
In the home game against the Detroit Red Wings, Meier equalized twice, in the 12th minute to make it 1-1 and in the 43rd minute to make it 2-2. Niederreiter was there twice in the power play. In the 38th minute he used a pass from Nate Schmidt from a tight angle to make it 3–0, and with 19 seconds left he ended the match with an accurate shot from the slot. At the start of the final third he launched the counter-attack to make it 4-0.
