F1 boss Domenicali about Schumacher: “You wouldn’t want to live like this for ten years with your worst enemy”

Even ten years after the skiing accident of Michael Schumacher (54), little is known about the condition of the 91-time GP winner.

There are always vague statements, especially from former comrades. Current Formula 1 boss Stefano Domenicali (58) was asked about Schumi by Rai Radio this week. The Italian is still in contact with the Schumacher family. “Whatever is between you and me remains private,” he says. “But you would never want to live like this for ten years, even with your worst enemy.”

As head of logistics and later sports director, Domenicali helped shape Schmumi’s most successful Ferrari years (world champion 2000 – 2004). “His accident in Méribel seems like yesterday, these are life-changing episodes,” says Domenicali. Passionate skier Schumacher fell on his head on a rock on December 29, 2013 in Méribel (Friday) and suffered a traumatic brain injury. Since then he has been shielded from family and management.

Verstappen reminds Domenicali of Schumacher

Looking at today’s Formula 1, Domenicali is reminded of the post-millennium era: “Our sport has always been characterized by cycles linked by a combination of a very strong car and an exceptional driver. With Max Verstappen we have a driver who is mature. He reminds me of Michael Schumacher, because he leaves nothing to a rival.” (cmu)
