The final of the 72nd Four Hills Tournament in Bischofshofen on January 6 is at stake. The reason for this is an avalanche that seriously damaged the landing slope and run-out of the Paul Ausserleitner ski jump. This means that jumping is currently not possible.
Correspondingly appalled, Manfred Schützenhofer, chairman of SC Bischofshofen, told the Kronen-Zeitung: “This has never happened to us before. We had a lot of snow and then it rained heavily.” He explains the incident when the load became too large for the snow nets, causing the enormous amount of snow to trickle down.
Nevertheless, Schützenhofer and his team are working to have any damage repaired in time for qualifying on January 5. The clean-up work is now in full swing. To do this, they organized excavators to remove the huge piles of snow in the run. In addition, the ski jump needs to be repaired and 100 meters of rope need to be replaced. New snow networks have already been promised.
The financial costs are estimated at a six-figure sum. But first, additional services are needed, Schützenhofer explains. (Gentlemen)
