In the Champions League, Borussia Dortmund closed the group of death with Milan, PSG and Newcastle as group winners. But the performance in the premier class belies the poor performance of the Ruhrpott club this season.
In the Bundesliga, Gregor Kobel (26) and his teammates have won just once in the last seven games, are 14 points behind leaders Leverkusen and four points behind RB Leipzig and the Champions League place.
And: the DFB Cup is already over. A week ago, BVB was eliminated without a chance in the eighth finals against VfB Stuttgart (0:2).
In addition to the unsatisfactory results, Dortmund’s playing style is particularly worrying. “Prior to the season, they had set themselves the goal of becoming Bayern’s number one fighter.
