The goal percentage that Stephan Andrist is currently achieving for FC Schötz is almost unbelievable: the ex-pro scored 23 goals in 16 games for the leader of the 1st League Classic (Group 2) in the first part of the season! That is almost twice as many as his first rival in the top scorers list, Emmanuel Mast of FC Solothurn (12 goals). Andrist, who celebrated his 36th birthday on Tuesday, shows everyone at the fourth highest level of Swiss football. And ambition bubbles up in the attacking player. He is still in top form.

In an interview with Blick, Andrist says: “As long as I can avoid the young players, I will continue to play football.” The fun and joy of being on the field is still there. How not when you look at FC Schötz’s last match of the year? The team from Lucerne won against FC Muri 10-1 – this was at the end of November. Andrist scored four goals and ended it in the 57th minute. It is his sixth (!) hat trick of the current season including cup qualification.

Many teams and attackers grit their teeth when it comes to converting chances and scoring goals. Andrist is an example of this efficiency. The current season is the fifth in his football career in which he has scored more than 10 goals. Last season there were twelve, the previous season at Köniz 17! Both also in the 1st League Classic. And in Germany’s 3rd League he scored 11 goals for Rostock and 15 goals for Wehen Wiesbaden.

Andrist has a job in addition to his education

These are impressive numbers. Even at the highest level of Swiss football, he scored again and again in the six seasons he played in the Super League between 2007 and 2015, scoring a total of 22 goals in 150 appearances for his home club Thun, then Basel, Lucerne and Aarau . What is his secret to meeting up regularly? “It starts in training, you have to want to make every shot.” He passes on his ambition to younger footballers; In addition to his involvement as a player at Schötz, he offers individual training as a personal trainer for juniors and young kickers from 10 to 25 years old.

Andrist knows the ups and downs of football, knows what it’s like to play for the great FC Basel and become Swiss champion (2012) – at the same time he knows the feeling of being without a club. From the summer of 2019, during his stay in Germany, he was without a club for six months. But he looks back on his career fondly and appreciates what he has experienced in his 14 years as a professional. He will certainly look back with great pleasure on the autumn of his career, when, as a 36-year-old, he showed everyone with his goal percentage in the first division.
