Steven Gerrard has lost his job as Aston Villa head coach. The 42-year-old Englishman was sacked by the club after losing 3-0 at Fulham earlier in the evening.
Aston Villa are seventeenth in the English Premier League with nine points from eleven games. Only two games were won.
The Premier League club’s board of directors have revealed the partnership with Gerrard, who was the club’s manager for less than a year, is over before Villa really have to fight relegation.
“We would like to thank Steven for his hard work and dedication. We wish him the best for the future,” the club said in a comment on the website.
Gerrard was appointed manager of the Villans in November 2021. Before that, he spent three seasons in the managerial dugout as head coach of Rangers FC, where he was succeeded by Giovanni van Bronckhorst.
As a footballer, Gerrard rose to fame in Liverpool, where he played over 500 official games. His biggest triumph came in 2005 when he won the Champions League with Liverpool.
It is not yet known who will succeed Gerrard as Aston Villa manager.
