Simon Friedli’s four-man bobsled missed the podium at the European Championships.

Vogt has to let himself be pushed

At the four-person Bobsleigh World Cup in Innsbruck, which is also considered the European Championship, Simon Friedli was the best Swiss in 5th place. The 32-year-old had missed all his chances of a medal after the first run with only the seventh fastest time. Ultimately, 37 hundredths are missing from the podium.

Cédric Follador is directly behind Friedli. Michael Vogt, who won the bronze medal at the European Championships in Altenberg last year, did not get further than 16th place due to back problems. During the second run, the pilot can no longer push and is already in the bobsled at the start.

Germany celebrates a double victory thanks to Francesco Friedrich and Johannes Lochner. The Latvian quartet around pilot Emils Cipulis prevented the total German triumph and secured the bronze medal.

Hasler narrowly missed the podium

Melanie Hasler took 5th place at the Bobsleigh World Cup for two people in Innsbruck, just like a week ago in La Plagne. The 25-year-old from Aargau and her pusher Mara Morell are 0.14 seconds short of third place. In the previous season, Hasler came third in the Patscherkofel ice channel and missed her first World Cup victory by just six hundredths.

The victory in Innsbruck goes to the German duo Lisa Buckwitz/Vanessa Mark with the two fastest times. Kim Kalicki/Leonie Fiebig and Laura Nolte/Neele Schuten provide an entirely German podium in Tyrol.

Norway’s show of power

Led by Johannes Hösflot Klaebo, Norwegian cross-country skiers crushed the competition in the 10 km cross-country race in Trondheim. They have been in the top 7 six times alone. The best Swiss ranking in the race with a single start and classic technique goes to Jason Rüesch in 27th place.

In the women’s category, Victoria Carl celebrated her first World Cup victory. The 28-year-old became the first German to win a 10km classic with an individual start in this discipline in Trondheim. Nadine Fähndrich is not yet fit and is losing a lot of time in her forties. Anja Weber is the best Swiss woman in 21st place, 1:40 minutes behind.

Podium for snowboard cross duo

As winner on Saturday, snowboard crosser Sina Siegenthaler rounded off the World Cup weekend in Cervinia with another podium finish. Together with Kalle Koblet, the Emmentaler finished the team competition on Sunday in third place behind Italy and France. (SDA)
