A Swiss quartet takes part in the first of two World Cup competitions in Engelberg. Swiss-Ski’s top-ranked athlete in qualifying is Gregor Deschwanden. The Lucerne resident, who surprised with second place in Klingenthal, Germany last Sunday, took 12th place with a distance of 130 meters.
Killian Peier, Simon Ammann and Remo Imhof secured participation with places 27, 41 and 49. The best in qualifying was the Slovenian Anze Lanisek with a set of 135.5 meters.
The cross-country sprint in Trondheim will be Johannes Kläbo’s prey. The favorite Norwegian triumphed ahead of Frenchman Lucas Chanavat and compatriot Harald Oestberg Amundsen. Janik Riebli is the only Swiss to reach the knockout stages. The 25-year-old from Obwalden failed in the quarter-finals.
A Norwegian also wins among the women: Kristine Skistad wins ahead of the two Swedes Linn Svahn and Emma Ribom. The Swiss Nadine Fähndrich remains stuck in the semi-finals. (SDA/cmü)
