Those words were definitely not intended for TV viewers. During the descent of the men from Aspen on March 4, commentator Adrian Arnet forgot to turn off the microphone. That is why the following words, which he addressed to a colleague, could be heard live: “Make sure you don’t get beaten up by Basel hooligans.” The person on the other end of the line was probably watching the Super League match between Lucerne and Basel at the stadium.

April 26, 1st stage of the Tour de Romandie from Crissier to the Vallée de Joux. At 16 km from the finish, the chasing group suddenly stopped at an intersection and the drivers looked at each other in surprise. After seconds of utter bewilderment, the puzzle was solved: the 25 or so drivers had simply gotten lost and had unintentionally taken a shortcut.

The Champions League – it is also the highest emotion for basketball players. That is why there was great joy when Friborg qualified again for the premier class thanks to their championship title. It is just a pity that the Swiss Basketball Association subsequently sent the file to the wrong address and that is why it was announced on June 29 that Friborg would not be allowed to participate in the Champions League. But a few days later there was a happy ending and Friborg was admitted after all.

This is not how Aleksi Peltonen (photo) imagined his start in Swiss ice hockey. After just two games for HCD, the striker was suspended for a doping violation. Peltonen has diabetes and uses insulin. Actually not a problem, but the HCD forgot to report this because diabetics are only allowed to play with an exemption since insulin is on the doping list. Someone had not submitted the documents on time. “As the person responsible for the sports area, I take full responsibility for this,” sports director Jan Alston explains. The good news came at the end of October: the provisional ban was lifted.

On October 17, Andy Schmid’s club (photo) met Hannover-Burgdorf in the European Cup. Everything was ready for a handball party in the Kriens Krauerhalle. Until someone noticed an error. The throwing circle on one side of the field was too wide for one of the goals. He was standing seven meters from the goal instead of six meters. The incredible thing was that the representatives of the European association had checked and inspected the playing field with a laser device. After the shock came relief. Thanks to numerous helpers, the floor was in order again within 15 minutes.
